HOW CAN I HELP PEOPLE WHO ARE IN TROUBLE?
Broken skins heal in days... broken bones in weeks or months..... broken heart and spirit sometimes in years.. but broken souls heal only by God's Grace. In the first chapter of the gospel of Mark, we read the story about the leper who lived each and every day with three condemnations. He was condemned by his own deadly afflictions, his friends and families, and by the society and their laws. In Jesus days, Lepers were totally shunned, and some people were afraid they might be contaminated if they stared at a leper. Keep this situation in mind, as you picture Jesus surrounded by a crowd of people, all wanting something from him. Suddenly the crowd parted as the believers pushed and shoved to keep from touching the one lonely leper who was courageously making his way toward Jesus. The others struggled to get away from the leper but Jesus stayed and he did something that astonished those watching. The BIBLE says " Jesus, filled with compassion and Love reached out his hand and touched the man."
A simple touch..........
BUT what a difference that made.
Jesus' example shows that serving others with a humble heart doesn't mean I have to do great extravagant things as he would do, but I can simply touch the untouchable and share God's loving life-changing Grace. Every UCLE member must become successful comforter to others who are weeping, by sharing a shoulder for others to lean on, and by being reliable and careful listeners.
Yes, there is a great opportunity for me to become channels of mercy and comfort in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ.
